Why Are There Angels?

The word angel means “messenger.” Angels bring messages from the Divine Mind of our Creator. They’re gifts to us from God, sent to help us remember our Divine nature, to be loving and kind, to discover and polish our talents for the betterment of the world, and to keep us out of harm’s way before our time. They also guide us in the areas of relationships, health, career, and even finances.

Your angels are with you to enact God’s plan of harmony. They help calm you, because one person at a time leads to a world of peaceful people, which equates to a world at peace. That’s why your angels desire to assist you in any way that will lead you to serenity.

You aren’t bothering them or wasting their time if you ask for “small” favors. They know that minor irritants often add up to major stress, so it’s their great pleasure to help you with anything that stands in your way.

Now while it’s true that challenges do make us grow, the angels also say that peace leads to even bigger growth spurts. Through tranquility, our schedules and creativity are more open to giving service, and our bodies operate in a healthy fashion. Our relationships thrive and blossom, and we’re shining examples of God’s love.

Some people ask me whether it’s okay to speak directly to God or to the angels, or whether this is blasphemous. I certainly prescribe that we follow our personal beliefs. However, if God, the ascended masters, and the angels are truly one, then why would it be wrong to talk directly to them? Aren’t you merely accepting a gift that Heaven has bestowed upon you? You and your angels aren’t conspiring against God in some sort of mutinous plot. The angels (as well as your Higher Self) will never defy God’s will, so there’s no chance that you might make a mistake.

The angels are aware of your “dream of fear,” as well as the truth of Divine affection. God, being all loving, has no awareness of anything but love. The Creator can tell when your consciousness is shut away from Him and that you’re having a bad dream, but He can’t tell what its content is. That would require God to be less than 100 percent love.

The angels are a bridge between the truth and the nightmarish illusion of problems. They can help bring you back from that horror into your happy waking state of health, happiness, peace, and abundance. They work in conjunction with your Higher Self and the soul you’re spiritually aligned with, such as Jesus, Moses, Quan Yin, the Holy Spirit, Buddha, Yogananda, or whomever. The angels don’t judge your beliefs. Rather, they work within your present thoughts as a way to reach you.

A Course in Miracles says that God doesn’t help us out during times of trouble because He sees no need (seeing only love and perfection, not the illusion of lack or problems). However, God does send helpers when we think we’re in trouble. It’s not that we’re ignored; it’s just that the Divine way of assisting us is to know that everything is already resolved in truth. But just in case we insist on staying asleep to that fact, God created angels to help us find our way out of the nightmares we create.

The angels have told me that we wouldn’t need them if we stayed fully aware of love’s presence at all times. Since we “channel surf” between varying degrees of fear and love, however, God sends us Heavenly assistants to help us out.
