My regular blog post about all things green has been interrupted. A catastrophe has a way of radically shifting your priorities. The survivors in Haiti really need help. Most of the aid organizations are asking for money instead of donated goods. But, one nonprofit—Soles4Souls—is collecting shoes and distributing them to survivors in Haiti who could really use something on their bare feet. Go through your closet and donate those still good shoes that you just don’t need anymore. Visit the Soles4Souls Website to find their participating locations page, search by zip code and find a U.S. drop off location near you.
Several shoe stores in my area are participating. Soles4Souls will accept 'gently worn' still wearable sneakers, dress shoes, casual shoes, and sandals. These drop off locations are for individual donations, so please don’t organize a giant shoe drive and then take them to a location unannounced. This is a great way to clean out your closet and help those in need at the same time.
Let’s send our love, light, cash, and even some shoes over to the Haitian people. Every positive thought, every dollar, and every pair of shoes does make a difference. Thank you for helping.

Thank you for a simple practical way to help in an situation of overwhelming need. When huge catastrophes hit the magnitude can paralyze one into into denial and inaction - what can I do?. The solution is simpler than we realize, but it helps to have one pointed out. Soles4Souls is a perfect fit.

How wonderful that we can recognize the need to heal and people are automatically responding. This is the true expression of HOPE in action.

Sometimes we are given glimpses of other possibilities to remind us how fortunate we truly are.

We here in the 'developed' world never have a reason to complain. Great comments ;)
