Go Ahead: Laugh!
“A day without laughter is a day wasted.” –Charlie Chaplin
I love April Fool’s Day. It’s a day full of unexpected surprises. Bizarre news stories emerge on the Internet about the Eiffel Tower moving, Big Ben going digital or a fast-food chain purchasing the Liberty Bell and changing its name to “Taco Bell.”
I also love reading the daily comics on April Fool’s because it’s “Switcheroonie Day” which means you can find your favorite characters such as Crankshaft, Charlie Brown, Sally Forth, Luann and those mischievous Foxtrot kids sneaking into other comic strips. This tradition was masterminded by Baby Blues creators Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott. When asked why he participates, Dilbert creator Scott Adams says, “You don’t get that many chances to tunnel under the fence.”
We’ve all been working so hard since the beginning of the year. We’re taking care of parents and extended families. We’re getting through some health problems and relationship issues. We even have several jobs to make ends meet. Prices are getting higher, our bills are getting scarier and the news is getting gloomier. But let’s not lose hope. Let’s not lose our reason to smile and to laugh. Let’s keep on believing and keep on supporting each other and to shake things up—let’s tunnel under the fence whenever we get a chance for a few great hearty laughs. J
