NEXTShow Me the Magic
“The universe is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to sharpen.”
— Eden Phillpotts
You’re here. You’ve clicked on the first-ever, HealYourLife.com blog. Whew…someone wants to read my blog. That’s very cool. So, what can I say here to amaze you and get you to stay…or to dream of luring you back for more? Hmmm. I’m a little nervous. I’m hearing the echo of one of my favorite movie lines inside my head. It’s John Cassavettes in the ’80s Paul Mazursky film The Tempest. He’s a middle-aged architect, successful at what he does, but somehow his spirit gets blindsided by self-doubt. “Show me the magic,” he begs as he looks out of his window at the New York skyline. He decides to escape all the way to Greece to try to rediscover his passion. Little does he know that the magic has been there—all around him—all along.
Oh, I know. You’ve heard it before: The answer is simple. Happiness is an inside job. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Be all you want to be. You can change your life. You deserve a break today. You can do it. Think outside the bun. Yeah, right.
I’m with you. My bookshelves used to be overstuffed with books on how to start living, stop worrying, why I shouldn’t feel guilty when I say “no,” how I can win friends and influence people, and why bad things happen to good people. But when I tried to take the road less traveled to run with the wolves or find a few men from mars or highly effective people, whatever color my parachute was, it wasn’t opening and I was headed fast for a big fall.
Then I met Louise Hay. Now here’s a woman who has it going on. The best way to describe her is to imagine a power outage at your office or house, apartment or dorm room when all the energy and lights shut off and you’re left in the dark. Louise is the candle you reach for. She’s the generator that gets everything up and running again.
You know how incredibly awesome you feel when people compliment you or celebrate one of your many talents or gifts. And you also know how lousy you feel when someone puts you down or throws a few nasty words your way. Louise says it’s the same with your body…it hears and responds to every single thought you think and every word you speak.
Louise is celebrating her 82nd birthday this month, but you’d never know it. She’ll sprint right up to you with a spring in her step radiating an inner and outer beauty that could stop time. And when she speaks, Louise touches something inside of you that makes your soul smile. And that’s what this Website is all about…a haven where you can take a break—if only for a moment—from your spin-cycle lifestyle, a playground where your mind can wonder, and a place where your thoughts can change your life. Let us show you the magic…
Something I Didn’t Know…:
Best-selling author Louise Hay keeps a copy of Alan Cohen’s book A Deep Breath of Life on her bedside table and reads a passage from it every day.
Best Line I Read Last Night:
Valedictorians don’t write blogs, this art is reserved for class clowns.
