Blogging Begins at 80

Hello Dear Ones,

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Remember when people always asked you this question when you were a kid? As children, we were taught to plan for our future. Let’s take the same attitude and plan for our later years.

What do you want to be when you grow older?

My mantra is: I’m 82 and I’m looking to see what’s new! I was born in 1926 at a time when a dozen of eggs cost 55 cents, a loaf of bread was 9 cents, and a gallon of gas cost 20 cents. Then, you could buy a car for about $300 and a house for about $7,000. There weren’t any televisions, fax machines, Starbucks, text-messages, or blackberries.

When I grew up and we wanted to talk to someone who lived a great distance from us, we wrote letters by hand, licked a 3-cent postage stamp, and sent it on its way. Now it’s 80 years later and I’m beginning to blog. It’s so nice that there are no age limits for bloggers.

It’s not too late to dream and you’re not too old to set goals for yourself. These are the things that keep you young and interested in life. Forget about the past and live today to the fullest. Today you can create a new way of living. You can change all the rules for yourself.

I wake up each morning with appreciation and gratitude for the wonderful life I lead. I vowed that this will be the best decade of my entire life. . . so far. Some people ask me why I say this. And my answer is: Because it is. I just feel it. Life has wonderful things in store for me.

There are many wonderful things waiting for you, too. Here’s how you can start to experience them: When you finish working on your computer today, walk up to the nearest mirror and see the magnificent being that is looking back at you. Look into your eyes and say: “I am so blessed and I am grateful.”

Now for each day this week, repeat this statement wholeheartedly each time you walk by a mirror. And next time, I’ll tell you how this simple affirmation can change your life.

  I am only 60 and am eagerly anticipating what's next? I, too, believe there are many wonderful things in my future and the excitement and anticipation I feel is exhilarating!
