We all need a little nudge and some inspiration every now and then when it comes to our diet and wellbeing. It’s so easy to slip into just having those one or two ‘naughty’ foods that before we know it, we’ve veered off the path of eating for abundant health.
One of the best ways to eat consciously and healthfully is to include more alkaline foods in your diet.
A more alkaline diet, also known as the pH balance diet, is based around keeping your body’s blood pH optimised at around 7.365 by eating lots of alkaline-forming plant foods (and drinks) and minimising acidic foods and drinks.

When your cells are oxygenated, disease cannot thrive and it allows the natural healing process to occur. This is the simple beauty of our body – give it what it needs and it will heal itself.

If you’re looking to lose pure fat in a sustainable way, then you’ll be delighted with the results that eating an alkaline diet will give you. The alkaline diet has been scientifically proven to turn off your fat genes (yes, we actually have fat genes that are deactivated by high-carbohydrate plant foods). This means that you’ll start losing any extra pounds quite effortlessly.

Alkaline foods are like high-octane rocket fuel for your body. They help you to have sustained levels of good energy throughout the day and without the need for caffeine. If you’ve ever swapped a morning espresso for a shot of wheatgrass juice then you’ll known what I mean!

Eating alkaline foods is naturally beautifying; they help to give you clear skin, brighter eyes, shinier hair (and in some cases can even reverse grey hair back to its youthful colour) and stronger nails. They also help you sleep better, which in itself is a great beautifier.

It always amazes me how people are willing to accept spending so much time in the kitchen to prepare a really great meal. Forget marinating meat for hours or even dehydrating flaxseed crackers; you can throw a simple and delicious alkaline meal together in a matter of minutes – whether that means blending a green smoothie or cooking a tasty cumin and vegetable brown rice risotto, the process is short and sweet.
