“Open yourself to an encounter with heaven, be as a little child. Release your desire to the winds of the universe. Trust your angels to catch your wish and bring it to you in a delightfully surprising way.”

— Doreen Virtue

I just finished reading Doreen Virtue’s The Angel Therapy Handbook. This was our Hay House Book Club Selection for August, and with my upbringing as a good girl scout, I always like to be prepared. Once I started, I couldn’t put this book down.

Doreen’s The Angel Therapy Handbook was so much more than I expected.  First of all, it includes a thorough section for spiritual teachers, healers or anyone else pursuing a career or writing a book in this genre. Doreen offers valuable tips about professional speaking, conducting workshops, giving audience readings and getting published.

This book also includes an intriguing chapter on The Four “Clairs.” These are the four (Four? Who knew?) ways that an angel (or other Heavenly beings) can communicate with you. They are: Clairvoyance (through vision), Clairsentience (through feelings), Claircognizance (through thoughts), and Clairaudience (through sounds). Doreen describes each one in great detail and includes a quiz you can take to see which is your primary clair.

Then of course, there are the angels. Wow! I met more angels and spiritual guides in this book than I could ever imagine. And here they are, all around me, just waiting for ME to recruit them for my needs.

I’m probably like many of you. I know there are angels out there. And I call upon them—mostly for emergencies, when I’m in a tight squeeze, and on occasion, when I need a parking spot at the mall. But in Doreen’s Angel Therapy Handbook, I discovered so many new ones. Did you know that there are specific angels to call upon for facing financial decisions, finding the perfect new home or apartment, remembering things, healing a relationship, fixing a glitch in your computer, locating a lost item, choosing the ideal hairdresser, and taking an important test? And my favorite—they can even illuminate your mind with wise ideas for all those random projects, impromptu work meetings, and creative endeavors.

If you’re not yet convinced that angels are for real, I challenge you to pick up Doreen’s Angel Therapy Handbook. Since I read it, my new entourage of Divine peeps has been quite talkative. Last night, I tried out my primary clair—claircognizance—when I was stumped on a topic for this column. Is it any wonder that this morning, sitting there on my desk was the new Louise Hay 2012 You Can Heal Your Life Calendar with a large cover image of an angel—and it was sitting on top of two copies of Doreen’s Angel Therapy Handbook?

So next time you’re in a jam, need some advice or have lost your reason to smile, try a little angel therapy on for size!

P.S. Throughout the day, I kept getting a strong message inspired by the angels. I’d like to share it with you here:
