Author Spotlight: Dr. Libby Weaver
Meet the Australian nutritional biochemist who's going to help Hay House readers shed weight and get healthyI’m really enjoying getting to share with you about some of the fantastic new authors we are working with here at Hay House. As a publisher, when we are considering taking on an author, it’s about much more than just one book – we look closely at the mission an author has in the world, the important work they are doing, and how we can successfully support them to reach the widest audience possible so that people everywhere can benefit from their message and knowledge.
Because of this, we get really excited when we come across an author who can communicate complex concepts in an accessible way that people can relate to. A perfect example of this is leading nutritional biochemist Dr Libby Weaver.

Dr. Libby Weaver
Dr Libby is a self-publishing sensation in New Zealand, where she is based, and we are thrilled to now be supporting her to share her important work around the world. Her first book with Hay House is called Accidentally Overweight, and will release in January 2016 in the UK, and in March 2016 in the U.S.
Dr Libby’s completely fresh approach to weight loss looks at it through the perspective of biochemistry, nutrition, and crucially, emotions – giving her unique insights that can help you discover the missing pieces of the puzzle to why you’ve been finding it so hard to lose weight, and guiding you to now do so more easily.
With two decades of clinical experience, Dr Libby is passionate about helping people to understand that there is far more to weight loss than what she calls ‘the calorie equation’ – how much you eat versus how much you move. As Libby says, for many people, it is not a lack of education that leads them to polish off a packet of chocolate biscuits after dinner, but their biochemistry and emotions.

She explains how each person has a different story going on when it comes to weight loss, and how you may need to work on one or more of the nine factors she has discovered to be essential to successful and sustainable weight loss: calories, stress hormones, sex hormones, liver function, thyroid function, gut bacteria, insulin, the nervous system and emotions.
I love how Libby pairs solid scientific knowledge about our bodies’ complex processes with a deep understanding of how important our emotions are when it comes to our relationship with food. Her compassionate approach and inspiring, uplifting writing make Accidentally Overweight feel like a heart-to-heart with a close girlfriend – who just happens to be able to help you understand your body better than ever before!

It’s a joy to be supporting Libby to give people their power back in this area, so they are free to live their best life possible.
