Finding Feng Shui

I do love learning new things, and I’m well aware that when the student is ready, the teacher appears. I must have been very ready when I attended an introductory class on Feng Shui in the mid-’90s, for my teacher was Terah Kathryn Collins. She took this obscure subject and explained it clearly and simply. I quickly understood the basic principles, and I saw a connection between our work. I teach people how to create a harmonious mental environment, and Terah teaches creating and living in a harmonious physical environment. It made perfect sense to me. I’ve been fascinated with Feng Shui ever since, and it’s become a part of my everyday life.

I introduced myself to Terah and asked her to come and Feng Shui my house—that is, to see where the energy in my home might be out of balance. In the process, Terah and I soon became fast friends. We made some changes by moving furniture and adding some plants and mirrors, and my life seemed to flow more smoothly. I painted my front door red, and within three weeks, someone tried to buy my home for more than the market value.

I’ve been grateful for Terah’s Feng Shui help along the way, especially when my publishing firm, Hay House, bought an office building and warehouse. The previous tenants were leaving because they couldn’t make a success of their business. When Terah and I entered the premises, we discovered that the Prosperity corner of the building was covered with a pile of broken chairs—hardly a symbol of success and wealth! We cleared all of the debris and painted that section fire-engine red with gold doors. Success was ours from the very first day we moved in!

As Terah shared many stories about her visits with clients and the positive changes she was able to bring about in their lives, I could hear a book forming. With much urging Terah wrote The Western Guide to Feng Shui, and Hay House was delighted to publish it. Terah has since published five books with us and opened The Western School of Feng Shui, in Solana Beach, California, which continues to prosper and grow.

Feng Shui has definitely helped improve the quality of my life. If you get a chance, explore it and see what happens for you.

Affirm: I ask for guidance, and it is always available to me.

Love,

Louise
