Green Is Good!
Louise HayWhen we think of the color green, nature may first come to mind. We look forward to the first soft green that confirms that spring is on its way. By appreciating the lush greens around us, we honor the abundance of the Earth.
In The Mystic Cookbook, Denise and Meadow Linn say that green foods can stimulate feelings of love, balance, harmony, peace hope, growth, and healing. “The color green reminds us that there will always be enough. It’s both restful and energizing.” What a wonderful description!
Green foods are a big part of my daily diet, so they are very prominent in my garden: zucchini, Swiss chard, cucumbers, lettuce and kale. I love fresh greens that I can add to my meals or mix in my blended shakes.
This year, the kale in my garden exemplified its nature of abundance and grew to enormous proportions. I brought this branch pictured here to our Hay House office, where my staff happily added its leaves to their smoothies and salads!
Kale is a great source of vitamins A and C, magnesium and fiber. If you are new to kale, it may taste bitter and quite strong. I suggest that you introduce small amounts at first to your salads and green drinks. You’ll soon feel a burst of energy from this very healthy and powerful super food.
Let’s affirm: I enjoy foods that are best for my body. When I eat my greens, I feel energized and abundant.
