How to Stop Fear From Holding You Back
Hay House authors share how they overcome their fearsDo you remember those signs that would say 'Free Cash!!! - Now I have your attention!' Annoying, right? Well I'm sorry to tell you, the title of my post 'How to Stop Fear Holding You Back' is a similar ruse, but in a good way! I want your attention, because this could be one of the most important thoughts you'll hear all day.
I believe it is impossible to step into greatness without feeling some fear. If it's important, fear is attached to it. I have got to the point where I enjoy my fear! Seriously! It has become an indication that I am living my life of the outer edges of my comfort zone; it has become an indication for growth.
The point is fear should never stop you from doing something meaningful, because if you feel fear it is a welcome indicator that what ever you are doing has meaning.
When I was growing up, my family didn't have any money. I lived in fear of being made homeless. The hardest part of the situation was that I was helpless to fix it. I was a little kid, I couldn't get a job. Many of the fears that paralyses us as adults are the same fears we had in childhood that we were unable to fix. Somehow we still believe we are that little kid who has no options. If you think about anything you are stuck on right now, I bet the fear of it, goes back into your childhood.
As adults we have many more options than we realise to change our situation, but the first step forward to greatness is to face those fears. In this interview, I asked Hay House authors Dr. Joe Dispenza, David Hamilton Ph.D, Michael Neill, Janey Lee Grace, Robert Holden, Sandy Newbigging and Mike Dooley about their fears and how they have been able to step into greatness with their work, even if their inner little child might still be saying 'I don't know how to do this!'
