Listen to Your Gut
You all know the phrase “Listen to your gut.” It’s that quiet, inner feeling when you’re struggling with a decision – perhaps you’ve felt it as a quick tightening, slight racing or even a brief letdown. Sometimes you experience a moment of satisfaction when you know you’ve listened to that “gut” instinct.
There’s another type of gut feeling….one that doesn’t give that feeling of satisfaction. If you’re experiencing bloating, heartburn or gas, you may be wishing that those gut feelings would go away!
Like so many other amazing things that your body does, these gastrointestinal symptoms are your body’s way of letting you know that something isn’t quite right. Digestive symptoms can often cause poor absorption of the nutrients you need to maintain good health. Gastrointestinal imbalances can stem from low stomach acidity, yeast overgrowth, undiagnosed food sensitivities, an infestation of parasites, a deficiency in digestive enzymes or even an overpopulation of unwelcome bacteria.
A digestive system which doesn’t work properly can have a long lasting detrimental effect on both your health and your weight. Identifying your issue and resolving it may not just eliminate unpleasant symptoms but may help you shed unwanted pounds.
So the next time you get one of those gut feelings you may want to listen a little more closely!
