Many years ago, Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring, warned that we are slowly destroying the ecological balance of our planet by adding chemicals to our crops. She spoke out against the pesticides that seep into our food and water supplies, affecting our health and the health of future generations.

In a similar manner, we are destroying the delicate balance of the ecosystem that exists within our own bodies. This intricate ecosystem is inhabited by microorganisms that play an important role in keeping us looking young and feeling healthy and strong. These friendly creatures, known as lactic bacteria, reside in the digestive tract, strengthen the immune system, and help the body defend against “unfriendly” bacteria and the pathogens that cause disease.

In fact, both friendly and unfriendly microorganisms are always present in our bodies, but when we are healthy, the friendly greatly outnumber the unfriendly, keeping our inner ecosystem in harmony. However, many factors weaken our immunity and upset this balance: the chemicals we add to our food and environment, fast-food diets, the stress in our daily lives, and the widespread use of medicines, especially antibiotics and hormones. And when the body is in this weakened state, the unfriendly bacteria can multiply quickly, producing symptoms such as headaches, nausea, skin rashes, and food allergies, as well as other potentially more serious disorders.

A long path of study, experimentation, prayer, and faith has brought me to the point where I am today: a healthy, optimistic woman who wants to share what I’ve learned. But to reach this point, I’ve been through many ups and downs in my campaign to overcome candidiasis, a condition that saps the very core of one’s vitality and well-being.

I was born with a sensitive constitution, including an allergy to milk. I had constant lung problems and colds. When my skin broke out during my teen years, I started taking antibiotics. My skin was very yellow, I had low energy, and sometimes I’d be very ‘spacey’ for no apparent reason. The antibiotics led to food allergies and digestive problems—and my skin didn’t clear up unless I took the antibiotics every day.

I went to a dermatologist and complained that the antibiotics made my stomach burn and gave me indigestion, but he said not to worry: people stay on antibiotics for years without problems.

I was vain, so I did stick with the antibiotics until I was in my 30s. Yet I knew something was wrong, and with my very sensitive body, I had clues it was connected to the food I was eating. So I began my intensive search for answers.

I tried macrobiotics, natural hygiene, raw foods, and megavitamin therapy. I studied with some of the greatest teachers in these disciplines. Everything I did improved my health somewhat, but not completely. Finally, deeply frustrated, I ‘let go’ and prayed for help. It was then that I met Dr. William Crook.

Dr. Crook was a pioneer in treating people with candidiasis, and his books have helped millions. I learned from him, as I had from all my other teachers to date, but still even he did not have the final answers. So, after six years of relentless searching, using the most important truths from all I studied, I developed The Body Ecology Diet, which goes beyond all these disciplines to really set you up forever with a balanced, inner ecology.

Everyone who has faithfully followed The Body Ecology Diet has improved dramatically, and I am thrilled to share it with you. I’m confident this book will change your life. If your immune system has weakened to the point where you’ve developed candidiasis, and you’ve spent a lot of money, time, and effort to find a cure, I promise you that The Body Ecology Diet will be the end of your search.

My book is about restoring your inner health, strengthening your immune system, and establishing a pattern of living and eating well that will extend your vitality for years to come. The Body Ecology Diet  provides basic tools you can use for the rest of your life, tools to help you achieve a new balance in your life. Anyone—ill or not—can benefit from The Diet. It is time to restore the ecology of our planet and the ecology of our bodies. By rebuilding our health and our immunity, we can restore our inner ecology, and we will have a much better chance to achieve all our goals, including restoring the ecology of our outer world.
